Today is a new beginning for me to learn and be the best that I can be.
This first-week internship experience has gone completely well. Yes, there are some barriers to communication during this work from home internship. But it went better than I expected it to be. I now know that what I learned in college has completely come to use for practical real-life projects. The way that I do things during study and work is similar only with a certain limitation and an even tighter deadline.

A briefing of a residential project and commercial project through zoom call meeting with Mr. Prama Milyardi for us to further take part in. I was told to make mood boards for each projects.
PROJECT 1
A studio apartment for a female client. Due to the project around July 2020. With a request of the interior that is simple, compact, smart and not over the top.

The concept mood board that I made for the apartment is inspired by the client worked in the Netherlands itself. Being in a different country for some time makes you leave a piece of your heart to the country. Having a flash of the Netherlands gives a sense of belonging and comfort while being in her own home town.
Netherlands interior is closely related to giving simplicity and open environment spaces that flow with one another. Similar to the Scandinavian interior, keeping the interior simple with subdued earthy and neutral color palette to give a sense of calmness.
Collaborating indoor house plants along with pops of colors from the bed covers, cushions, and decorations to space in order to balance the calmness and adding freshness.
PROJECT 2
A canteen located on the 3rd floor of a building in Jakarta Selatan. With a client request of the interior to be open, tropical, sophisticated and not very colorful.

Option 1. The first concept mood board that I made for the canteen is based on the environment and the client's request himself. The client is into a tropical and the location is semi-outdoor giving the area a fresh windy vibe with wooden decks on the outdoor rooftop. The concept is simply calming, neutral, fresh and modern tropical. The usage of wood elements and granite or ceramic tiles throughout the canteen is a part of the concept along with the achromatic color palette with earthy tones.

Option 2. The second concept mood board gives a freshly modern tropical ambiance with bits of pops of colors throughout the interior. It uses the basis of neutral colors with additional semi-pastel colors to give hints of color accents. Keeping it simple with not too much color yet stylish.
CONCEPT PRESENTATION
At the end of working hours, I was supposed to present via zoom meeting but it didn't happen due to heavy rain which results in a bad connection. I ended up emailing the mood boards for reviews and project distribution.
I was informed that I get to take part in project 2; Gaharu Canteen based on the concept option 1 mood board as it matches the client wants more. To be honest, I was glad that I got this one, the tropical concept is so me! And I feel more comfortable doing this one. At the same time a bit pressured the tilted structure is unusual, but still I'm thrilled to do this!

The architectural 3D structure is to be made due that day. Floorplan of the canteen project is as follows.
floorplan with permission of MetR Design.
BEFORE
A rough architectural structure of the Gaharu Canteen that still needs lots of revision and put it all together as a structural whole.
AFTER
Throughout the working hours, revising and sorting out and added the ceiling material; wire mesh which took quite some time as the ceiling structure is slanted.
THE DESIGN.
The next part is the most exciting part of interior design work! Starting the interior design! I was at first confused about how to fit every furniture based on the floorplan from the architect, turns out the furniture in the floorplan are not based on the standard measures, mostly too small. So I improvised on my own on some of the seating arrangements.

I decided to use this furniture as most of them are easy to find for their simple design yet are sophisticated and stylish. I decided to play more with the furniture and little bits of detailing, then get on into the wall and flooring materials deeper next.
On Friday, no internship takes place due to a Good Friday holiday.
I wish you have a great Good Friday and Easter for those who celebrate.
The great gift of Easter is HOPE.
Let's hope that this global pandemic will end soon.
Keep being patient in staying at home and do social distancing.
Please, stay at home & stay safe.
